Energy Storage Ireland Annual Conference

The energy storage industry in Ireland has gone from strength to strength with nearly 700MW of battery storage now operational on the island and a further 4GW in the development pipeline. However, with uncertainties around access to the grid and future revenue streams we must focus on delivering the policies and market frameworks that will support the energy storage investments needed for Ireland’s clean energy transition. The ESI Conference 2023 will focus on topics such as accelerating deployment of energy storage, the investment landscape in Ireland and the outlook for new long-duration storage technologies.

This conference aims to bring the key stakeholders together to discuss how to identify new sources of LNG and maximise Europe's import capacity in the most economical way possible. The timeline focuses on between now and around 2026 and then evaluating strategies for the longer term. You told us that longer-term considerations might involve either further expanding FSRU utilisation or investing more money into new on-land terminals and cross-border pipelines (e.g. between Spain and France). We will be looking at such solutions at the conference.
