FREMONT, CA: Deloitte launched the report Technology-empowered Digital Trade in the Asia Pacific, highlighting the latest developments in cross-border trade in the region as it advances toward a more digitized, greener, and sustainable future. Small and micro companies play an essential role. The report predicts that digital trade will continue to accelerate due to dynamic cross-border e-commerce activities, rapid shifts toward a digital lifestyle by consumers, ongoing development of digital infrastructure, and strengthened regional cooperation led by RCEP, based on a survey of businesses engaged in cross-border trade in the region. Over the next three years, the area is poised to experience a golden age for digital trade.
The COVID-19 and the advancement of digital technology and improved regional cooperation are hastening the development of digital trade in the Asia Pacific area. Taylor Lam, Vice-Chair and Technology, Media & Telecommunications Industry Leader at Deloitte China, remarked that digital trade presents brand-new development potential. In addition, the RCEP will improve regional digital trade and enhance regional collaboration. Digital technologies enable worldwide sellers to participate in global trade without any entrance restrictions, stated Gary Wu, Global Lead Client Service Partner at Deloitte.
